Want Happy For Your Movie?
My given name is David Haskell but I go by the name “Happy Dave” and since there is already an actor named David Haskell all of my IMDB CREDITS are under “Happy Dave”. I have been acting and performing in one form or another since I was eight years old, though not professionally. I started acting professionally in 1995. In 2009 I graduated from The Second City Chicago’s Acting and Improvisation programs. I have also studied at Comedy Sports Chicago and the Annoyance Theater. In addition to my acting skills I have also stage managed and Directed several stage plays.
I also have unique unrelated skills that has landed me several movie roles. I am a professionally trained body piercer and sideshow performer that goes by the name “Happy the Human Pincushion”. I get cast for roles that no one else either wants or can pull off when REAL LIVE torture scenes needed. For example: I was cast for the FX Networks web promotion for season two of American Horror story. They needed a Human Pincushion that could also act. The thing that landed me the role though ,was from a reference the director got from one of my Improvisation teachers at The Second City. It’s hard to find a sideshow performer with acting skills.
In my acting career thus far I have played everything from a rape victim to a cannibal killer clown that gets tortured and buried alive. I even played a lonely deformed man (A character I developed for the role) that had an obsession with eating live crickets. I never take on a role unless I am willing to commit to it 100%. Even if it means doing things that I normally don’t or wouldn’t do.
Rather then trying to impress you with “What a joy I am to work with on set, I have asked some of the directors I have worked with to write a sentence or two on their experience working with me.
Carlos Jiménez Flores. Director of Motel 666
Happy Dave is great to work with. Aside from the unique talents he brings to the table, he is a pleasure to have on set. He takes direction well and is good at improvising. I would definitely work with him again.
Peter Romero Lambert. Director Dead American Woman
Happy Dave is a tireless performer who is dedicated 100% to any project he is involved in. Whether it’s a $30 shot on video short or an expensive feature length film, Happy treats every experience with the same professionalism. Dead American Woman would not have been as successful had it not been for Happy’s incredible fx throughout the film. Happy may seem a bit on edge at times, but it’s important to know that his mood has no bearing on others but on his own personal acting and fx goals he sets out for himself at each movie he is a part of. Once you get to know Happy, you’ll begin to understand just how dedicated he is to the cause…I’m glad to know and work with him.
